Happy St. Patty’s Eve!
Hey everyone, sorry about the lack of music the past couple days… I honestly meant to toss this up yesterday so my bad. However in doing so I sat on these tracks a little bit longer and can tell you quality is about to follow. Now lets get to it…
To start things off right we have another remix from the King Midas of remixes- GRUM. Everything he touches turns to gold. No joke.. have a little gander at the past here. The newest has been classified as ‘unbelievable’ and has a dirty bass line that will no doubt reinvigorate the dance scene wherever it is played.
♫ TV Rock feat Rudy – In The Air (GRUM Remix)
Russ Chimes needs little introduction. If you don’t know much about him by now I’m sure you’ll take one listen and want to click here for more.
♫ The Vanish – Hold On (Russ Chimes Remix)
Cassette Culture indulge us with a delicious synth-licious remix to Passion Pit’s hit Sleepyhead. Real chill but vibrant all at the same time… can’t go wrong at all.
♫ Passion Pit – Sleepyhead (Cassette Club Remix)
YES! Seal! Who needs to be kissed by a rose when you can have a Thin White Dukes mix that combines a space-odyssey style of disco-electro beats with Seal’s legendary vocals?
♫ Seal – Amazing (Thin White Dukes Main Mix)
A dance anthem like no other, the Nightriders remix to Teen Scream Machine can only be played on one volume level and that is LOUD. You can’t just listen to this track you need to feel it- deep in your bones. Turn it up, have a listen, and then tell me what you think!
♫ Don Diablo – Teen Scream Machine (Nightriders Remix)
Real catchy but about a week old, Falke’s new mix to Florrie’s 911 harnesses that real mainstream vibe that I think many people are looking for when transitioning from pop to disco-electro. Stellar stuff.
♫ Florrie – Call 911 (Fred Falke Remix)
Who doesn’t like Johnatron? I know I do.

Mick Match (DJ, Producer, Composer, Entertainer Extraordinaire) is Mix Chopin, a side project to Mix Match aka mXm. With a fresh face, Mix Chopin is set on reinvigorating the funk-electro scene. Ecliptic was the first to hit me with tons of great samples poking through, and then I heard Levitate… This is an exclusive off the upcoming EP to be released shortly. It packs in so much flavour its hard to get a taste of it the first time around.
The new EP is sure to be hot so stay tuned to Mix Chopin’s myspace for a release date.

Back with another quick installment of some great tracks…
Fabian’s new mix to Oh Shit! & Night Drugs’ Everybody Needs has become my new favourite track over the past week. It’s scrumptiously filled with delightful disco beats and rockin’ verses that will have you moving. Then of course you have Fabian who puts it all together and makes you happy you are still on the dance floor at 1:18. Altogether now…
♫ Oh Shit! & Night Drugs – Everybody Needs (Fabian Remix)
This new Rockets remix fell just short of Fabian’s but I mean those rifts are hard to compete against. The Rockets have hit us before (see MAU remixes) so if you’ve been paying attention to them you would know by now that they have what it takes to compete with the big names out there. This new remix is further proof. Keep an eye on these guys throughout 2010! Big things are on the horizon.
♫ Butterfly Bones – Crystal Caves (Rockets Remix)
Studying has been nearly impossible with the fantastic weather we have been having. Sun and warm weather makes the fresh spring tracks start to come to the forefront of my playlists. One of my recent favourites to grasp this light sound is the band Kisses with Bermuda. It’s captures that cottage/waterfront/boozin’ atmosphere we all love so much up here in the North. I think it’s fantastic.
The bass – vocal combo Error :: Love do to Saycet’s Opal is simply one of a kind. A splash of fresh summery vocals with a hypnotic beat makes this track catchy as hell. Its been around before but damn I love it.
♫ SayCet – Opal (Error :: Love – Opalowsky Remix)
BONUS!
Alright this warm weather really is incredible… GO OUTSIDE!

The Canadian producer Arturo found us earlier through a spectacular soundscape entitled Transcendence. It’s pretty impressive. Recently the Victoria-native turned towards refining others in some light disco remixes. Islomania remains my favourite and holds onto the light, dreamy disco vibe that Arturo captures so brilliantly.
Check myspace for more.

What the fuccck is a Round-Up?
AN Definition: Round Up [round] [uhp] (n.)
- Is my way of trying to keep with life and music at the same time for the next little while.
For a more detailed explanation:
Overwhelmed with school I’m forced to do round-ups for the next month or so. I don’t have the time to individually wrap up some of these artists below… or those in the coming weeks for that matter. For that I apologize as everyone of these featured artists deserves their own spotlight and their own extensive tribute. My comrades will no doubt keep you updated as usual while I slow down so there’s no need to worry about a lack of material hitting the site. But I figured I deserved you all an explanation for the slight deviated role and appearance you’ll see in March. I prefer to do the one artist-per-post style like the old AN so expect that to return late April if not sooner!
Much respect goes out to those who hit my round-ups… you are keeping me sane through the toughest part of my degree. If successful I’ll see you on the other side of the stage- diploma in hand. Ha, wish me luck.
♫ The Durutti Column – My Country (Monarchy Remix)
♫ Evan Voytas – I Run With You, Spirit Animal
♫ Dada Ft. The Other – Majestic 12 (Super Mal Remix)
♫ Groove Armada – Paper Romance (Classixx Remix)
♫ Jack Penate – So Near (Penguin Prison Remix)
The crew from Van Go Lion, Amy Paige (Vocals/Lyrics) and Josh Loerzel (Keys/Music Production), dropped us a few new remixes that just tickled us right. Their electro-pop style is inspired by 1980s dance pop, lay down guitar and vocals on top of electronic MAC beats. In doing so, the duo create something unique and unfamiliar that’s oh so perfect for the genre they attempt to tackle. Fun and playful all around, it isn’t hard to want more.

Beautiful and sunny today! Here’s what hit my speakers the last little while:
This new track from 19 year-old Melbourne producer extraordinaire Muffin made my day. Real synth-odyssey landscape stuff. Simply stellar. Thanks Too Many Sebs.
I always hold a special place for DCUP in my heart. The crew have recently graced my speakers with a ridiculous collaboration alongside Yolanda Be Cool.
♫ Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP – We No Speak Americano
I love this track. It’s been everywhere so I’m sure you’ve heard it but I felt I needed to toss it in somewhere. Softwar uses laid-back disco samples with the fruits of TDCC vocals to create some pure disco melodies. Soothing and intricate this track becomes real easy to lose yourself too.
♫ Two Door Cinema Club – Undercover Martyn (Softwar Remix)
BONUS!
The mainstream dance party track of the week goes to an aggressive edit of Young Money’s Bedrock by the Vindata crew.

As an American, it is often hard to understand the impact that dance music has in other parts of the world. With the UK emerging as a hotbed of new music, Floating Points is quickly redefining the style of Acid Jazz. While the earlier offerings (“K&G Beat”) were constructed from the traits of that lost subgenre, the new single “People’s Potential” uses that genome to create a vastly different variation.
Floating Points has released a blistering array of singles, all linked together through a common thread that I like to call the “underrhythm.” This subdued constant pulse is altered by minimal electronics, some melodic or some near atonal. The beat itself rarely reaches a volume in the mix to result in pounding temples. Instead, it occupies your chest where it pumps like a heartbeat even after the song is over.
“People’s Potential” is the realization of these ideas. A simple loop over a minimal melody placed above a fierce groove. Even as the hi-hats sizzle like disco, the aforementioned underrhythm propels the song in the same way a booming beat does in a hip-hop song. The result is a track that resonates inside you, long after you stopped listening.

Moonchild is a one man machine coming straight from the Sydney disco hot-bed. His first single Girl is expected to be released in the coming months. The Michael Jackson remix to Say Say Say is one of a kind. I don’t jump on too many MJ remixes nowadays after we were all overwhelmed with them when he died. The man was a legend- we all know that. But Moonchild has a chance at making something legend-ary with this mix. Those who argue against technological advancement need to listen to this first. Antoine sure honed some skills with modern equipment. Mad props to Stoneyroads. As usual they stay on top of it all.
In and effort to find some more Moonchild (massive failure in that dept.), I came across this Cibo Matto purely by chance… and I’m sure you can all figure out how. Moonchild has some delicious piano breaks and funk rifts throughout. So as a tribute to the Sydney DJ’s debut on here we offer this thanks and an unrelated random. Find more Cibo Matto here.

Well this is refreshing! The C90s released 10:01 earlier this month with a remix by Villa and they both kick ass. Villa’s rendition spices up original with some great disco accents. The C90s original 10:01 was released on Headman’s Relish. It’s an impressive track on an even more impressive label with the likes of up-and-comer’s Tape To Tape. This London-based project is fantastic and only getting started. Check out this delicious C90s remix to Tape to Tape’s The Devil Made Me Do It Pt. 1 as a little bonus. You’ll be happy you did.
